Shooting At Unarmed Men

A fitter, meaner, leaner Shooting At Unarmed Men release their first album proper – Yes! Tinnitus! – this May on Too Pure.

Originally formed by ex-mcluskyer Jon Chapple during the bitty in between bits of his previous band’s commitments, Shooting At Unarmed Men are now a force to be reckoned with and if their mini-album of last year Soon There Will Be Shooting At Unarmed Men served as mere foreplay then brace yourself for the full frontal attack of Yes! Tinnitus!

Outgoing bassist, Simon Alexander, has been replaced by the incoming Simon Jarvis (for other works of his, see Big Joan and Steevless) and this is duly reflected in a tighter, hungrier sound. There’s no questioning that this is a more rounded record than it’s predecessor and while it seems they can now do subtle (‘In-flight Instructions Are A Joke – Say I’ and ‘Never Follow Me Again’), fear not as they’ve not lost their ability to be equally as brutal (‘A Horse By Day Is A Horse By Night’, ‘All Hail Sergio’ and ‘I Cry For No Man’).

No half measures are being taken, what you hear is what the band want you to hear. Yes! Tinnitus! is a marvel to behold and should help mclusky fans to finally put their ghost to rest cos there’s a new cock of the roost.
